Products – made from cast iron

The full members of EADIPS FGR produce ductile cast iron pipes, fittings and valves for drinking water, waste water, gas, etc, which are permanently protected by coatings and linings against corrosion and mechanical influences from the inside and outside.

Cast iron pipes

Ductile cast iron pipes are generally produced by centrifugal casting (de-lavaud process) with socket joints. Exceptions are flanged pipes, which are made by using the sand casting process or by various joining techniques from centrifugally cast pipes and sand moulded flanges. Angled push-in joints can be manufactured with or without a longitudinal force fit.

Ductile cast iron pipes are used in the following applications due to their freely selectable wall thicknesses and high strength joints

  • pressureless networks (sewers)
  • Drinking water pipes
  • High pressure applications (e.g. power station pipelines)

Ductile cast iron pipes are manufactured in nominal diameters ranging from DN 40 to DN 2000.

Fittings

Ductile cast iron fittings are manufactured using the sand casting process and perform a variety of functions in piping systems.

With

  • push-over sockets are used to join straight pipes together
  • bends are used to make changes in direction
  • transition pieces can be used to change the pipe cross section
  • branch pieces can be used to create networks

Fittings are manufactured in nominal diameters ranging from DN 40 to DN 2000.

Valves

Ductile cast iron valves are components in piping systems which, in addition to the function of ‘guiding the medium’ (deflection, change of nominal size), also perform the function of shutting off or regulating the flow rate and pressure.

Depending on the task, there are

  • shut-off valves
  • tapping valves
  • control valves
  • hydrants
  • Aeration and venting valves

Valves are manufactured in nominal diameters ranging from DN 40 to DN 4000.

Fields of application

Ductile cast iron pipe systems are mainly used in drinking water and waste water networks. The high strength and leak-before-break properties of ductile cast iron, the easy installation of articulated joints, the robustness of the pipes with freely adjustable wall thicknesses and the flexible range of fittings and valves have led to the development of new applications:

  • drinking water pipes
  • sewer pipes
  • sewage pressure pipes
  • fire water pipes
  • turbine pipes
  • snow making pipes
  • cooling water pipes
